Sticky Date Cookies
These sticky date cookies are not only a perfect treat, but are also packed with whole grains, fruit and fiber. The texture is soft and chewy with strong caramel undertones and pair perfectly with a cozy cup of tea or alongside strong black coffee. The base cookie is a blend of rolled oats and wholemeal flour, seasoned with fall flavours thanks to the pumpkin pie spice blend. See the FAQ below for instructions if you don’t have this blend stocked in your pantry. Tossing the chopped date pieces through the dry ingredients before mixing with the creamed butter and sugar helps to aid in even distribution, so the pieces don’t…

Seeded Oat & Honey Discard Crackers
I’ve been adventuring into sourdough breadmaking recently, and quickly discovered that the amount of discard that is generated can add up quickly if you don’t have extra uses for it. This quick cracker recipe is the perfect way to re-purpose this richly flavoured, pre-fermented flour and also reduce waste in the kitchen. The seeds you use in these crackers can be mixed and matched with dried herbs of your choosing, to suit what you have on hand. Even plain, they are still delicious. The more I thought about it, the more it annoyed me. Of course there is always a cost for convenience, but these were simple oat cookies. I want to encourage you to give these ago, not just to cut a few dollars off your grocery bill, but also to enjoy the process, eat a more delicious cookie and waste a bit less…

Bircher-Style Oats
This boosted breakfast oat dish is the delicious sister of classic overnight oats. Not only can you prepare this meal in batches, it also freezes surprisingly well into individual portions. Instead of prepping each bowl of oats the night before – you can prep a batch, portion and freeze. The night before you need it, all you have to do is transfer a container into the fridge to defrost. I promise it all comes together just the same as long as you freeze immediately after mixing. This method is also helpful in controlling portion sizes. The issue with regular Bircher Muesli is that it’s really only best overnight. Texture degrades…
